Orthodontist Dr. Jean Hong in Silver Spring and Olney, MD

Dr. Jean Hong is a native of the DC metropolitan area. She grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, in a family of five, including an identical twin sister.

Education

Dr. Hong attended the University of Virginia and graduated with honors in biology. She received her doctorate degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and graduated magna cum laude. She then went to Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for her orthodontic specialty training. While at Marquette, she completed a thesis on ceramic brackets and earned her Master’s of Science.

Additional Training and Honors

Dr. Hong has participated in many dental mission projects in underserved areas in Virginia and Jamaica. She was also an event coordinator for the Special Olympics.

She has received many awards and honors, including:

  • The Eleanor J. Bushee Award for Leadership and Academic Excellence

  • Selection to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society

  • Recognition in Washingtonian Magazine and Washington Parent Magazine by her dental colleagues and patients

Dr. Hong is also an active member of:

  • American Association of Orthodontists

  • American Dental Association

  • Maryland State Dental Association

Family Life

Dr. Hong is married to her high school sweetheart, who is a pediatric dentist. In her spare time, Dr. Hong and her husband enjoy spending time with their children. She also enjoys playing tennis, reading, and traveling.
